Ocean Isle Beach
Ocean Isle Beach is one of three islands known as the South Brunswick Islands. At its southernmost, the coast of North Carolina curves inward, so these islands run east and west, rather than the usual north and south. This helps shield us from harsh winds.
Ocean Isle Beach is an 8 mile long family-oriented island with limited commercialization which also means smaller crowds. The freeze-free season averages ten months. The Gulf Stream keeps the temperature moderate, even during the winter. In summer, the sea provides natural cooling breezes.
Recreation centers around the ocean. Swimming, sailing, boating, fishing or simply walking along the beach are fun activities. Fishing can be done from charter boats, the pier or just pull up a chair and fish from the beach. There is a small fee for fishing off the pier. There are also 30 golf courses within ten miles of the island not to mention the 100+ courses in the Myrtle Beach area.
If you love seafood, you've come to the right place. You may buy shrimp, oysters and fish and cook it yourself. Better yet, drive a short distance to Calabash, known as the "SEAFOOD CAPITAL OF THE WORLD". The Calabash restaurants are very popular, so arrange to eat early or later, to avoid the long waits. There are also various restaurants on and off the island.
If you're in the mood for shopping, Ocean Isle Beach has many shops conveniently located on and near the Causeway.
We're happy you've decided to vacation with us. There's something almost magical about Ocean Isle Beach. One feels it just driving over the bridge - walking on the beach at sunset or sunrise - watching the pelicans and seagulls - enjoying the sandpipers as they chase sea creatures on the shore or trying to catch of glimpse of the wonderful dolphins.
Folks who have visited or stayed on Ocean Isle Beach would tell you that they would rather be here than anywhere else on earth!
