Think Outside the Beach Photo Contest
The Brunswick Beacon wants to know what you think makes Brunswick County unique. Pick up a camera and show us in this year's photo contest.
The contest is divided into three divisions:
Kids Division (Ages 12 and younger), Teen Division (Ages 13-18) and Adults (Ages 19 and older)
There is an entry fee of $5 per photo in the adult division. Kids and teens divisions are free. Participants may enter as many photos as they wish.
Photos will be judged on the following criteria: Originality, representation of theme and technical merit.
Winners will receive cash prizes ($100-first place, $50-second place, $25-third place). Prizes will be awarded at judges’ discretion.
The deadline for entries is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.
Entries must be submitted in a digital format (.jpg) in the highest resolution possible (8x10, 300 dpi minimum). Entries must be burned to a CD and dropped off at the Beacon office, 208 Smith Ave., Shallotte, or mailed to P.O. Box 2558, Shallotte, NC 28459. Please clearly label all entries “photo contest. Do not submit entries via e-mail. All entries must be submitted with a completed entry form. Entry forms may be found in the Brunswick Beacon or online at www.brunswickbeacon.com.
CONTEST RULES
Contest is open to amateur and professional photographers of all ages. • Photos should be an individual conception of something “Uniquely Brunswick County.” • Photos must have been taken recently in Brunswick County. • Color and black-and-white entries are accepted. • There is an entry fee of $5 per photo in the adult division. Children and teenagers may enter submissions free of charge. • Contestants may submit as many entries as they wish. • Photos must be submitted in a digital format (.jpg) in the highest resolution possible. (8X10, 300 dpi minimum) • Photos cannot be digitally manipulated. Minor digital enhancements, such as cropping, red-eye removal or one-step corrective functions are permitted. • Entries must be burned on a CD and mailed or dropped off at the Beacon office. Multiple entries may be burned on the same CD. • A completed entry form must accompany each submission. • Photos become property of The Beacon and may be used in future publications. • Photos will not be returned. • Photos may not have won in previous competitions. • Photos may not have been published in other publications. • Prizes will be awarded at judges’ discretion. • Beacon employees are not eligible for prizes or participation. • Participants who do not properly complete the entry form or follow contest rules will be disqualified. • Winners will be notified by phone no later than Friday, Dec. 4, 2009. • A list of contest rules and official entry forms may be found in the Brunswick Beacon or online at www.brunswickbeacon.com.
